If you remember this post - you may have linked to this recipe. The recipe in this post uses the same ingredients, just different amounts. I got this recipe from someone in our homeschool group who said that this is the Duggar family recipe. [actually it's not quite their recipe - after researching on their site -, here are some laundry recipes on their site]
So, here you go...
Ingredients:
Recipe:
1 bar Fels-Naptha Soap
¾ c. Arm and Hammer Washing Soda
¾ c. Borax
Grate soap. Add six cups of water. Heat in pot until soap is melted. Add washing soda and borax. Stir until dissolved.
Pour four cups of hot water into bucket. Add soap mixture and stir. Add one gallon and six more cups of water and stir. Cover and let sit for 24 hours. It will gel.
Use ½ cup to 1 cup per load [since we have a front-loader I'll use 1/2 cup].
Be sure to get "washing soda" as opposed to regular baking soda. I read where some people got their washing soda at Wal-Mart - ours here doesn't carry it. I got it at Kroger in the laundry aisle. We also got one of those 5 gal. Home Depot buckets. Apparently, they just dropped in price too. It cost us about $3 or so for the bucket + lid.
Looking forward to laundry tomorrow!
