Guard Their Hearts, Guard Their Lives

...not Gardasil. The following is new information about this vaccination.

Drug company puts young lives at risk

I’m usually not the kind of person to say "I told you so." But in this case, I’m more than happy to make an exception.

Two years ago, I wrote an article called "A Virus that Causes Cancer?" In it, I discussed the then-new vaccine Gardasil, which helps protect women against the HPV virus, a sexually transmitted organism that can lead to cervical cancer. Several states were in the process of mandating the vaccine — for girls as young as 11 — under intense pressure from Merck’s lobbying efforts.

I pointed out that early signs were not good, with a high number of reported side effects including fainting, loss of vision and seizures. More important, I noted that there had been absolutely no studies on the long-term safety of the vaccine. Given the highly preventable nature of HPV-related cervical cancer, I thought it was senseless — downright dumb — to expose young girls to these kinds of risks.

I received a lot of feedback from that article. Some thanked me.

Others re-posted and re-published it in other sources. But many, many people wrote to argue with me. Girls are going to have sex no matter what we do. We need to protect them. What kind of freakish 1950s era time warp do I live in? One doctor wrote an impassioned letter defending her practice of vaccinating her young female patients with Gardasil. She wrote about the critical importance of Gardasil in protecting our young women’s futures — and acknowledged almost as an aside that yes, there are still questions about the long-term safety of the vaccine.

That was then. Let’s fast forward two years.

I was flipping around the TV channels the other night and for some reason I stopped on the CBS Evening News. (Must’ve been the Holy Spirit, because I’m generally not a big network news fan.) Soon I was watching a feature story entitled "New Worries about Gardasil Safety."

The piece started with a very sweet-looking young girl, Gabby Swank, who got the vaccine because "we felt almost pressured by the commercials." Afterward, she got sicker and sicker, eventually suffering seizures, strokes and severe heart problems. She is now too sick to even attend school.

Next we went to a heartsick mother, Emily Tarsell, whose daughter Chris wasn’t as "lucky" as Gabby. Chris died after receiving the vaccine.

Chris is not alone. Twenty-nine deaths have been reported from the Gardasil vaccine. Twenty nine deaths. It almost makes me cry just to write it. Twenty nine young women’s lives have been cut short, all because a drug manufacturer convinced them that a vaccine would "protect" them.

And among the living, the carnage continues. A recent study by the National Vaccine Information Center compared Gardasil’s side effects to another vaccine given to patients in the same age group. Gardasil led to three times (that’s 300 percent) more emergency room visits, five times (500 percent) more fatalities, and 30 times (3000 percent) more side effects. And these are not minor side effects. We’re talking strokes, heart episodes, lupus, paralysis.

Young girls seem to be winding up permanently disabled. If you want to see for yourself, just google "Gardasil video" to see young girl after young girl who has had to give up sports, social life and even attending school because of Gardasil-induced health problems.

In the mean time Merck, Gardasil’s manufacturer, is standing by their product. Last July, when 15 young women had died from the vaccine, Merck said it believed that "no safety issue related to the vaccine has been identified." No statement to the contrary has been issued by Merck as of this writing, and their Gardasil Web site continues to encourage young women — and their parents — to avail themselves of the vaccine. Incredibly, Merck is now petitioning the FDA to be allowed to inject boys with the vaccine, because they may be carriers of the virus.

All of this makes me really, really mad. This is about putting profits (in Merck’s case) and ideology (in the case of many of Gardasil’s advocates) over the lives and health of young, innocent women (and, if Merck gets their way, men).

It would be one thing if we were vaccinating against some incurable deadly plague that was wiping out an entire generation. Then maybe the benefits would outweigh the risks. But neither HPV nor HPV- related cancers are the plague. The virus is sexually transmitted, so abstinence and marriage to an uninfected partner offers 100 percent protection. But we don’t even need to tread into the treacherous waters of the "kids are going to do it anyway" debate to acknowledge that HPV-related deaths are extremely preventable.

We have pap smears. Those lovely pap smears detect HPV-related warts and pre-cancerous changes to the cervix. It is because of the pap smear that cervical cancer deaths declined 74 percent between 1955 and 1992 — the same time period wherein the rate of unmarried sexual activity was rising dramatically. Those cervical cancer deaths, according to the American Cancer Society, continue to decline at a rate of about 4 percent a year.

We don’t need Gardasil to prevent cervical cancer. Gardasil is the closest thing I’ve ever seen to an out and out pharmaceutical hoax foisted on American women under the guise of "public health." It is dangerous and only exists on the market today as a testament to corporate greed and the "profits over people" mentality.

Please, do not allow yourself or your daughters to be injected with the Gardasil vaccine. Tell others the same. Spread the word. Young lives may depend on it.

I'm going to link to this because I have a few friends who think it is the best thing and can't wait until their girls are old enough to be injected. Oy vey!

Thanks so much for spreading the word about this.

Our family was contacted recently by a family friend who wanted to tell everyone she could not to get this vaccine for their daughters.

Why? Because her healthy and strong teenage daughter died suddenly as a direct result of this vaccine within the last few months.

I wasn't planning on ever participating in this anyway...But now I have yet another reason to discourage other from doing so.

Came over because Sarah directed me. I too am posting a link on my blog. Our family is vehemently against almost ALL vaccinations. Here is a good reason why.

Gramma 2 Many sent me over. I don't believe stats and such until I've seen them from a credible source, but regardless, I agree with the basic sentiment of this article. We don't need a vaccine to do what abstinance will already to do.

Ronnica said...

Oops, I sent that before I was about to change it. I meant to say we don't need a vaccine to do POORLY what abstinance will do COMPLETELY.

I am going to link this also. I am a lover of the 1950's and glad to be stuck in it. Thanks for the info.

the girls in Madeline's class were been vaccinated with Gardasil earlier this year. I looked online before signing the form and decided not to let her have it.

This article is great

Great article, Shelley. Thank you.

Thank you for your article. I refused the vaccine last year on behalf of my daughter (now 13.) I just couldn't trust its effects on a girl not yet completely through puberty. Very scary. I will share your link with others.

Can you add my blog to your links?

Popped over from Christine's place -- funny because I was thinking am I the only one who isn't jumping on this bandwagon?....

Children of God for Life also have great articles about the Gardasil vaccine.

Chalk up another one for just plain ole abstinence.

Gramma to many sent me. I am so thankful that I DID NOT get this. My pediatrician said he would NOT give it to his own girls, so I did not give it to mine.

My daughter, Victoria, has been ill since February 2008.

Here is some history. My daughter had her first Gardasil vaccination November 2007. Her second vaccination was in the beginning of February 2008. Immediately after her second vaccination, Victoria experienced severe diarrhea and was nauseous for about eight weeks. She had blood work done many times and doctors thought she had a virus. On March 31, 2008, she had her first seizure. My daughter has treated with many neurologists, all of whom have not related her seizures to Gardasil. Meanwhile, there are quite a few hundred people that I have found over the internet through my numerous postings and through Erin Brockovich, and their daughters are all experiencing the same symptoms, which occurred after the Gardasil vaccination. We have actually formed a group and share our daughters' stories, symptoms and information. My daughter has had CT scans, MRI's, MRA's, EEG's, blood work and was hospitalized at an epilepsy center in the video EEG monitoring unit for two separate weeks in May 2008 and September 2008. She was put on many different seizure medications. After the normal EEG results, she was taken off all medications. Her SED rate has always been high and she does have protein in her urine, but doctors do not seem concerned. I was told that her red blood are small, but this apparently is not concerning either.

My daughter has been seen by several neurologists, a psychiatrist, psychologist, several neuropsychologists, an immunologist, several infectious disease doctors, and also treated a at Wellness Center for a period of time. Wellness Center physicians believe that my daughter may have Lyme disease that was dormant until the Gardasil vaccine. Infectious disease doctors differ. Which doctors are correct? I have no idea.

My daughter currently experiences the following symptoms: non-epileptic seizures, migraines, fainting, tremors, twitches, numbness, intermittent leg paralysis and facial paralysis, tingling, staring or blank episodes, eye pain, joint pain, neck pain, back pain, memory loss, confusion, brain fog, regression, mood swings and chronic fatigue. She continues to have bouts of nausea and diarrhea. She has not been in school since April 2008. My daughter can never be left home alone. She can't go to school, go out with her friends or work or has little "normalcy" in her life. She has very few good days and always says she doesn't feel good.

I do not know which way to turn for help. We have seen so many doctors and I can't seem to find anyone willing to help my daughter. There are so many other young girls who have the same exact symptoms as my daughter and the one thing that all of the girls seem to have in common is the Gardasil vaccination.

We are on a fixed income, as most people, and we have expended many thousands of dollars in an effort to seek medical opinions and assistance. Although we do have medical insurance, it is very difficult to find doctors willing to treat my daughter who will accept our HMO. Also, there are no "traditional medical doctors" who will relate my daughter's symptoms to Gardasil as I am told "there is not enough information available" about the vaccine and doctors believe it to be "safe" . The vaccine has been available for less than three years. Meanwhile, there are some doctors who are making the correlation between Gardasil and many of the girls' symptoms. However, the only doctors I know of right now are in California and Kansas. Other doctors are willing to "try" treatment, most of which is "homeopathic" in nature and extremely costly. Once again, I must reiterate that there are so many other young girls experiencing negative symptoms.

Each and every night, I check on my daughter many times in the middle of the night to make sure she is still breathing (like we ALL did when they were babies). I have a chime on her bedroom door so that every time she opens it, I know she has walked out of her room. I had a deadbolt put on the front door of our home with a key that can be removed from the inside. I never leave the key in the door for fear that Victoria will be confused after a seizure or when she has memory loss, and leave our home. (This has happened many times and she has been missing). When she is in the shower, I have to either stand outside the door and/or keep asking her "are you okay?"

Each day, I cry and wonder if Victoria will be next one to die from adverse reactions to Gardasil.

We are in desperate need of medical treatment for my daughter. I have run out of ideas, doctors to treat with and finances have dwindled. I do not know which direction to turn. Any thoughts are most appreciated, especially from the medical community.

The National Vaccine Information Center is in the process of circulating a petition to have Gardasil investigated by the government. There are more than 15,000 reported cases of adverse effects from the vaccine which have been reported to the NVIC (many of the adverse effects are extremely serious) and approximately 38 deaths have been reported.

Please feel free to forward this information.

Thank you for your time and attention.

P.S. My daughter's story was posted on the NVIC website.

PLEASE take heed to these postings, and one thing they don't tell you about this Gardasil vaccine is that it protects against only like "4" strains of the "over 100" HPV out there linked to cervical cancer. There are also toxins in it that may cause damage to immune system, etc. as are in other shots.

HPV is a sexually transmitted situation that 9, 10, 11 year olds aren't at risk for anyway unless they are 'active'. I believe in pushing for better teaching on abstinance than on acceptance.

My son went temp. paralyzed over school booster shots that were reportedly new and improved 'safe', and I have had autoimmune issues strongly believed to be resulting from my younger year vaccinations which made me horribly sick. As a parent you have the right to opt out even if they don't advise you of that. Our dr. agreed why treat the whole herd when only one in a million will get it and today most all things can be successfully treated if they should get it. I'll take my chances.

I do have a natural solution which I have found that is helping resolve my issues and has saved my life from further autoimmune compromises and shutdowns, it is all natural and simple. There are medical staff dr's and nurses, homeopaths, chiropractors etc who use as well and now share this with people they know and care about who can't get results with meds. No claims of cures, just know it works and is patented.

Always educate yourself on these issues. Be cautious please for the sake of your health and these children!
